Lewis Schiliro

The Honorable Lewis D. Schiliro was appointed by Governor Jack A. Markell as Cabinet Secretary of Delaware's Department of Safety & Homeland Security in January 2009.

Secretary Schiliro spent 25 years with the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI). During this time he held numerous positions including Commander of the New York Drug Enforcement Task Force, Organized Crime Coordinator, and Special Agent-In-Charge of the New York Office Criminal Division. In 1998, Secretary Schiliro was appointed Director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation's New York Office. His responsibilities included

Supervision and management of organized crime drug trafficking, white collar crime and both domestic and international terrorism cases. Upon retiring from the FBI, Secretary Schiliro accepted a position as Senior Vice President at MBNA Bank in Wilmington, Delaware.

Secretary Schiliro earned his Bachelor of Arts in Economics from Hofstra University and his Juris Doctorate Degree from the Cleveland State University Cleveland-Marshall College of Law. Secretary Schiliro is a member of the New York, Washington, DC and Federal Bar.
